Indian Monsoon Wedding

Monsoon is considered the most romantic of all Indian seasons. The idea of getting married during this season is a daring one, given the logistics and the scale of Indian weddings. Fortunately I had a chance to attend a close family wedding in India during the monsoon season where it rained heavily and we had a lot of fun.

Indian weddings call for dressing up, dancing, mehndi, yummy food and much more. I love our weddings – they bring all the family members together from across to globe to a big family party. The bigger the family, the better dose of entertainment it provides. Every family member is unique and everyone adds their own special touch to the celebrations. We make memories for life and at the next family gathering we all laugh about the funny mishaps. Having my kids attend several weddings is also an amazing introduction to our culture. The best part is that they love it and want to be a part of it all. Hanging out with their cousins, partying till late and gorging on yummy Indian sweets will be a key part of their childhood memories.

Now let’s talk about the important bit. Choosing an outfit for a Monsoon wedding can be tricky as you do not want to end up wearing heavy fabrics/embroideries. Always choose lighter fabrics like georgette, chiffon, lace, net or crepe. Avoid velvet and heavy embroideries. You can choose bright colours but I prefer light pastel shades during this season. On the blog today I want to feature one of my favorite designers Astha Narang. She is a favorite designer for all new age brides and bridesmaids. Her designs are feminine, modern and sophisticated. She adds eye-catching elements to her designs by using embellishments and sheer fabrics. I had a great experience of collaborating and working with Astha in creating this white lehenga for me. I love it and am so glad that I choose this design. I styled the lehenga with kundan and ruby earrings and a silver clutch. Please not that the lehenga is light enough for you to dance your heart out at any occasion.

If you are looking for your next bridesmaid lehenga, then do stalk Astha’s designs here.

What I Wore On Holiday

Two weeks back I went on a week-long cruise with my extended family. I have never been on a cruise before so was bit skeptical about the whole thing. Considering our big group which consisted of individual from two years to 65 years, I think cruise was definitely a good idea. It took me a good two weeks to get back to reality and give some time to my blog. So today’s post is all about what I wore on this family vacation. Most of my outfits are from regular high street shops but I have styled them with my existing wardrobe and some interesting holiday jewellery. Here are all my outfit with shopping links.
