My visit to London Luxe

If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that I went to London Luxe, a  fashion & lifestyle event in London, organised by Fashion capsule. Events like these provide a platform for new upcoming designers to showcase their designs to a larger audience. They give people like me options to explore unique brands that we wouldn’t come across in London.

The event was held at Grosvenor house, a very central location. See all the details about the event here

I had a lovely time exploring new brands and here are a few of my favourites.

Rashma Sud Jewellery

Normally I do not mention a lot of Indian jewellery brands on my blog post just because there aren’t many good ones out there, but I have to mention  Rashma Sud Jewellery. I loved their stuff – very elegant and classy. I saw some interesting pieces like this colourful choker set sbove. If you are looking for good quality costume jewellery, then do pay them a visit. They also do semi-precious jewellery.

Suram Fashion By Gypsy Mahajan

What a beautiful collection they had. I fell in love with most of the pieces on display. Suram Fashions is an Ethnic Indian designer wear brand from New Delhi India. The lady behind the brand, Gypsy Mahajan, is very approachable and can customise outfits to suit your needs. The outfit can be easily shipped to London as well. I tried on a few thing from her collection and this green sharara set was a bright and refreshing colour to wear.

Suram Fashions has a dedicated team of designers working with them to create fresh unique outfits. If you are interested in any of their designs, then you can find them here at Facebook

Jyoti Chandhok

Jyoti had some stunning chikankari work on display. She had beautiful chikankari saris and full chikankari dupatta. Her new signature piece was this chanderi bright blue anarkali. She also had a range of cream, white and beige chikankari outfits.

Silver Sitaara

Chikankari in London Asian fashion blog blogger

I found this cute little brand called Silver Sitaara amongst the array of designers. They boast of creating unique fusion designs using pure fabric and hand embroidery. If you are looking for something different from your regular high street dresses, then show some love to these guys. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

They had some some fine luxury pieces especially this peach flower print anarkali with net dupatta and intricate embroidery. Checkout their facebook page here

Reynu Tandon

I also spotted some very unique Indo-western designs at their stand. See their Instagram here

Fashion entrepreneur Malika Jain

Hope you all managed to save London Luxe date in your diary. Unlike India we do not have easily available desi shopping options in London. But these exhibitions provide a platform to savor some local and international Indian design talent. One such exhibition on the way is London Luxe on the 19th & 20th of May at Grosvenor House, JW Marriott Hotel. This event is especially targeting the Asian audience in UK who are looking for Indo-western couture and Pret collections.

On the blog today we are talking about fashion entrepreneur Malika Jain and the driving force behind London Luxe. Coming from a family of successful business entrepreneurs, Mallika dreamt of creating new and effective business opportunities since her childhood. Mallika started her professional journey by managing the ladies division of Jainsons Tycoon (a leading garments store in New Delhi). She also went on to organize women-wear exhibitions in Embassies and five star hotels in the city. Having tasted success in the family business, Mallika decided to turn professional and explore and learn about international luxury brands and how they function in our country. She took up the position of Sales Director of an international luxury brand at DLF Emporio, New Delhi where she gained immense practical firsthand experience about the corporate world.

Given her keen interest, education and experience in fashion and lifestyle, she always dreamt of creating new and effective business opportunities for other established and upcoming designers and entrepreneurs in the similar space. It was this spirit that led her to launch Fashion Capsule.

Born and brought up in New York City, USA, Mallika hails from a very reputed Marwari family of Madhya Pradesh. She pursued Bachelor in Commerce from Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi. After her marriage into a Jain family of New Delhi, Mallika went on to study for her diploma in Fashion Retail Management from NIFT and also got a diploma in Merchandising. A firm believer of the karma theory, Mallika believes in doing her own bit for the society. She has been closely associated with Ankur and Laksyam which are NGOs working towards the welfare of underprivileged children.

Mallika is socially aware and active, and she strongly believes that women empowerment is the ability of women to exercise full control over their actions. She says

“I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you. A women is a full circle.Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.”

Anita Dongre and Sonam Kapoor at DIVALICIOUS LONDON

I recently went to DIVAlicious London which hosted renowned Indian designer Anita Dongre in exclusive soiree with Sonam Kapoor. After amassing cult popularity the world over in destinations such as the UAE, India, Kenya, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Hong Kong and Indonesia, London played host to a unique, luxury boutique pop-up exhibition – ‘DIVAlicious 2017’ – on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th March 2017 at The May Fair Hotel, London.

International film and fashion icon Sonam Kapoor graced the event. On the by-lines of the exhibition, DIVAlicious London’s partner The Rack – by Kachins presented renowned celebrity fashion designer Anita Dongre. Hot off the ramp of India’s Lakme Fashion Week’s Grand Finale, Anita Dongre has been at the forefront of fashion for over 20 years, having created one of the most successful fashion houses in India. A metaphor for supreme craftsmanship, Anita Dongre’s designs showcase Indian aesthetics in a contemporary language.  Inspired by Rajasthan and India’s rich craft tradition, her handcrafted bridal gotapatti lehengas and handwoven heritage benarasi creations are coveted by brides across the world. Anita Dongre’s commitment to revive, sustain and empower the Indian crafts and textiles led her to launch Grassroot, a sustainable and eco-conscious luxury prêt label. DIVAlicious London marked Anita Dongre’s inaugural London showcase. The event showcased Anita Dongre’s acclaimed collection “Alchemy” (A Magical Transformation).

Private banker turned full time fashion entrepreneur Vanitaa Bhatia launched DIVAlicious in Dubai in 2011.  This is what she had to say about the event “We had a resounding weekend in London with a great turn out. With the reception we received, I can immediately claim that we will be back again next year and hope to make it an annual spring affair for the fashion-conscious market that is London.  Our next step is Nairobi, Kenya!”

I enjoyed exploring the new Anita Dongre’s Lakme Fashion Week’s Grand Finale collection. It was stunning and the designs were very fresh and feminine. The good thing is that these designs can be bought directly from http://shop.anitadongre.com/. Do have a look at the website and you will find all the latest pieces there.

I also came across a brand called Azuli by Nikki from Bombay. I really liked some of the pieces in her collection and tried this cream colour straight kurta. The one I am wearing in this picture has yellow embroidery but I ordered the same design with peach coloured embroidery.

I also spotted this stunning pearl work kurta by Mehreen Noorani. Mehreen Noorani  is a Dubai based brand and you can find them on facebook here.

Next stop was Payal Jain. Her collection included lots of creams and whites. I tried this white embroidered anarkali on me. I loved the all-over embroidery and the colour.

Also spotted the lady behind CILVANA Designs wearing one of her beautiful pieces.
