Hope you guys enjoyed watching the video above. I loved the egg and honey shampoo from Vatika. It’s specially good for the winter months. Egg is a natural conditioner and does wonders to your hair. I can definitely feel a difference in my hair texture after using the egg shampoo. Also the egg hair mask was a great conditioning product and made my hair all smooth. If you want to try any of products mentioned in the video then follow this link.
After styling my hair I did this metallic festive look. I am in love with this metallic gold skirt from Oasis. It is definitely an investment piece for my wardrobe. There are so many ways I can style this skirt for various occasions. For this particular look, I have adopted a cosy style. Wearing this metallic skirt with a high neck jumper makes this outfit perfectly apt for a Christmas lunch date.
I love wearing knitwear over skirts. It looks very trendy and gives an edge to your outfit.
So this is my last look for 2016. I will be sharing a lot more in 2017, especially my Indian wardrobe. Thank you all for being such a big part of my blog journey. I hope to see you all very soon in the new year.
Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready for the freezing winters ahead! The mercury has been plummeting to sub zero temperatures lately. Dressing up to repel the chill and still look your best can be a struggle, when all you want to do is to stay in bed. Winters do call for festive outdoor Christmas fairs and markets. So get some cosy comfort to your winter wardrobe and get ready to brave the chill in style.
Todays’ post is all about how to dress warm and still look good. The outfit I am sporting today is super comfy and everyday winter style; something you can sport at Christmas, markets, walk in the woods, school pick up and more. The real winner of this look is the extremely warm quilted coat from Mango . This coat has become my trusted companion to brave the cold this season. To me it feels like a wearable duvet, perfect for my early, dark mornings. Wearing this coat on its own would be boring so I teamed it up with some complementary layers like a cosy grey knitwear from H&M and red plaid scarf from Gap.
Try moving away from all black/grey looks by adding striking accessories like a bright patterned scarf. This is a very laid back and relaxed look for your winter wardrobe. I added some more warmth by wearing these ever so comfortable knee high boots from M&S. These are one of the most comfortable knee high shoes I have very owned. I don’t even feel like talking them off – super snug and extremely comfortable to wear. The cutest bit of this look is my pom-pom beanie from Asos. Pom-pom beanies have a been a craze this season. They are a cute alternative to hats. Style Tip : Wear the hat slightly back to show of your fringe.
The trick to winter wear is in styling your main coat/jacket. Padded jackets have flooded the catwalk and the high street. It is a major trend this season. So wrap yourself in a gorgeous duvet like jacket and enjoy the festive outdoor atmosphere in style.
Christmas is just around the corner, and one thing is for sure; we can’t stop thinking of the delicious festive food or the festive clothing for the upcoming and super exciting parties. Even though, we are ready for a mouth-watering lunch or dinner anytime, when it comes to “I have a party to attend, but what do I wear now?”, we would probably get panicked and answer with the oh-so-classic “ I have nothing to wear!”.
In order to keep our calmness and never “lose it” when that time comes, the best tactic for a girl is, to always be perfectly prepared. Investing in a gorgeous sparkly or velvet dress, sounds like the only idea that comes in mind, but sometimes depending on our mood, we just can’t be bothered to wear something too girly or over-exposing. There is no need to worry; other equally beautiful and eye-catching outfit ideas like the look I’m wearing here, are available for you to get inspired.
The truth is that a formal dress makes us feel feminine and pretty, but have you tried wearing a tux with high heels? Power dressing even for parties, has the ability to not only make us look well-dressed, but also to uplift and boost our confidence like anything else. It’s just a different, sexy and powerful feeling, that you are able to understand only if you try it.
In today’s post, I’m showing you how to master the power dressing, if you fancy giving it a go during these Holidays. A simple yet luxurious black blazer, combined with a sleek black pair of trousers featuring a velvet trimming detail, is the way to go. A beautiful v-neck silk top, in a cream colour is the best option in order to give a little light in your outfit and make it stand out. Finish the look by adding a pair of high heels and voilà! As for makeup, a red, vampy or dark fuchsia lipstick will enhance the beauty of the monochrome outfit even more.
Party season is coming and we finally have a serious excuse to wear glittery, sparkly and fancy clothes without the fear of being too much. Lucky us, this season is all about luxury textiles in amazing earthy or deep jewel tones, as well as sparkly details; as extreme as it gets. And who doesn’t love dressing-up? Especially with clothes that make us feel prettier than ever but don’t have the opportunity to wear whenever we want. Our time is around the corner!
A great place to consider for your party-ing attires, is Topshop. Depending on the occasion, your mood and your taste, there is something for all. From gorgeous formal maxi dresses like this, to mini dresses and trendy skirts.
Other than that, here are some beautiful options from the latest trends to check-out, if you’re going to parties and want to look your best.
The Statement Skirt
A statement skirt like this black sequin midi from Warehouse, is a chic and classy way to make an entrance. Wear it with a simple silk blouse and minimal accessories in order to let the skirt speak for itself.
The Velvet Dress
Velvet is hands down the fabric of the season. It is luxe, elegant and adds value in any form. A wine coloured mini dress like this from Mango, is the easiest choice for a party. With a dress like that, you will look fashionable without much effort from you. Pair it with sleek black pumps and voilà!
The Sequin Dress
If you are ready to shine and like more daring clothes, then this sequin dress from &Other Stories is definitely for you. You will be the centre of attention and for a good reason. Keep in mind that the rest of your accessories and makeup have to be super simple, so the outcome stays smart and stylish.
The Formal Maxi Dress
For those of you who love a formal option, this maxi dress in dark magenta colour from French Connection, is ideal. Perfect eye-catching colour and sophisticated design. You will surely be the best dressed guest.
Who doesn’t love this time of the year ? Our inner child screams with excitement; festive clothing, festive makeup, parties, brunches and family gatherings. The merry time of the year is coming up, and we as girls have to be prepared.
However, Holiday season also means a lot of time spent in the house, as well as many cooking hours in the kitchen in order to please our beloved ones. So, why not please ourselves too in between, by attending some festive brunches with friends? Whether you choose eggs Benedict or avocado on toast, you have to be dressed with something that will boost your mood and make you feel beautiful and ready to celebrate. And what is better than a perfect festive jumper, like the one I’m wearing here!
A pretty festive jumper is the ultimate piece of clothing that instantly yells Holidays. It is also one of the easiest tops to style, as it makes a statement on its own and you just have to keep simple the rest of your outfit and accessories. The best part? These kind of jumpers go with anything; from your favourite pair of jeans, to denim or leather skirts. As you can see, I paired a navy embellished jumper, with a mid-length black leather skirt to add some toughness to the look and simple ankle boots that dress it down for morning time adventures. The white shirt under the jumper, not only keeps me warm, but also creates a great contrast, enhancing the jumper’s pattern even more. A simple black bag will complete the look in the most effortless way.
Fortunately, the latest fashion trends call for sequins, glitter and sparkle. So, a jumper featuring any of these is an ideal option that turns your appearance into a stylish, chic and super festive one!
Now you can enjoy being outside as much as staying inside! Stay beautiful and get ready to sparkle!
As we’re getting closer and closer to winter the weather gets even colder and the need for some cosy and comfortable knitwear, gets bigger day by day. Unfortunately, we have to forget all of our beautiful tees or light-weight shirts and switch them up with some heavier and warmer fabrics, ideal for the months ahead. Cashmere, wool or 100% cotton, are the ones that we have to look up to.
Unfortunately for our summer clothes, but fortunately for our winter mood, all the high street designers, came up with amazing jumpers that will definitely satisfy our fashion hunger. From extreme oversized to ruffled or bell-sleeved, there is something for everyone. Even if you can’t afford many pieces from the high-end market, there’s no need to worry, as there are equally beautiful and high quality pieces in more affordable brands as well.
I gathered my favourite pieces, that stood out to me the most and I can’t wait to style them! These are my picks of the best trends for this season to help you take some serious inspiration, and incorporate some (or even all) of them in your winter wardrobe.
We loved the off-the-shoulder trend all summer long and it continues to be on point. Try it with jeans or skirts to add a feminine touch to any casual outfit. I chose this from Asos; simple, fashionable and in a very good price too.
Bell sleeved knits, make a “quiet” statement and spice up even the simplest outfit. They are the perfect way to look pretty in warm clothes. My favourite so far is this, from Topshop.
Cross Over Ties
If you love a beautiful knit, but you are bored by plain designs and want something extra, then this trend is definitely for you. Knits with crossover ties at the hemline like this from French Connection, or with a crossover pattern all over them like this from Mango, are the perfect options.
High neck knits, are the perfect solution for the chillier days. In addition, they make you look extremely elegant and well-dressed. Pair a piece like this from French Connection with your favourite jeans and you’re good to go.
Cold days are now sorted. Time for a cup of hot chocolate, right?
Hope you all had a lovely time this Diwali. Now that the festival is over, all we are left with are the messed-up Rangolis, melted tea light candles and leftover sweets. Snippets of your home remind you of the festive time you had with your loved ones. I love the excitement and the whole run up to Diwali. Sorting out my festive wardrobe and thinking about Diwali decor really gets my creative juices flowing. Living in London where I have limited access to resources does limit me from going full out, but I do try and work around my limitations.
Diwali is my favourite festival and I have fond memories of this festival as a child. As a mum I would like to give my kids the same memories. Being a working mum of two young kids, I find it challenging to balance everything – work, home, kids and my blog. But I guess I get a kick from doing what I am doing and I am passionate about it. I just about manage it all and carry on. Enough on the story of my life, let’s focus on some festive decor inspiration.
This is how I decorated my place for Diwali. Hope you enjoy my picture story here.
Diwali Table Decor
This arrangement is very easy to create. Simply use a neutral table runner and adorn it with silver and copper accessories. To give final touches, sprinkle some rose petals and your Diwali table is ready.
I used some Rangoli stencils (got them from India) to create patterns on the floor.
Diwali Sweets Table
Diwali sweets is the biggest attraction for everyone. Right from the little ones to the big kids. We all love mithai. This Diwali I tried to use cake stands and glass boxes to create a mithai centrepiece. I have to tell you it was difficult to keep my kids off from this centrepiece and take a picture before the sweets disappeared.
Diwali Rangoli Pattern
I have a wooden floor at my place so usually my rangoli pattern would look very dull. This time I used only one colour and did the outline with white which gave some contrast to the pattern. I also used golden tea light holders for decoration.
My Diwali Outfit
So finally, what I wore this Diwali. I wore this Afghani embroidery skirt from Nabeel. I used a traditional maang tikka (bought from Amrapali) to give my outfit a traditional look and my Zara necklace to still keep it modern. I tried to fuse modern and traditional into one look. I wore this skirt slightly differently from how I wore it last time. See how I wore it earlier here.
Hope you enjoyed my Diwali story here. In the next few weeks I’ll be sharing a lot more about winter and party fashion so stay tuned.
For a while I have been meaning to find a nice banarasi dupatta. I didn’t want anything in the red/pink colour palette. I wanted a unique colour to complement the festive season and my off-white palazzo suit. Diwali is a festive time and calls for lots of parties and events. I had to plan a few outfits for this season for various events and as usual my first point of contact for Indian clothes is Jyoti Chandhok. In her studio, there is a whole load of fabric and fashion treasure. Her designs are so classic that you can never go wrong with them. When I saw this burnt orange coloured banarasi dupatta, I simply fell in love with the colour. I loved the modern chevron design on the dupatta. The burnt orange colour was very unique and was totally apt for this Autumn.
I wore this dupatta on my off-white palazzo suit which I bought from India during my last trip. I bought this suit from Delhi at an exhibition. This suit is very versatile and can be easily teamed up with different coloured dupattas to create unique looks. If you want to keep the look a bit muted, then just wear a plain off-white dupatta. But if you want to go for a festive look, try a bright coloured dupatta.
I wore this dupatta for a day Diwali event and styled it with my favourite festive mojris from Jaipur. I love these juttis – they go with any ethnic look and are so comfortable. I wear them with most of my Indian outfits. See how I have styled them here and here. My earrings are from Jewellery by DivyaChugh
How did you dress up for Diwali? Would love to hear your Diwali fashion experiences. I will be sharing my actual Diwali outfit and decor ideas post soon. Till then, enjoy the Autumn sunshine.
Hope you all had a brilliant start to the festive season and are now getting ready for Diwali. Ten years back when I first moved to London, shopping for Indian clothes was a nightmare for me. So my Indian wardrobe was built up by yearly India trips and recycling old wardrobe into new. Ten years on, my experience has changed a bit and writing a fashion blog has expanded my Indianwear options in London. Now with a click of a button I can get a custom made sari blouse delivered to London.
Let me introduce you to Rutbaa, an online destination for all Indianwear. They have a wide range of women Indian apparels and accessories, saris, suits, lehengas and more. I personally like their sari collection. The price range is also decent and comes with a fitted blouse tailoring service. One thing I always find difficult is getting a sari blouse tailored in London so when Rutbaa asked me to try on their tailoring service, I was quite keen to personally test it out.
Today on the blog I am featuring this lovely Pink leheriya sari with an embroidered border. The sari comes with an embroidered blouse. I love the detailing on the blouse and contrasting pink embroidered patterns. Thanks to Rutbaa for sending this lovely sari along with the fitted blouse to London in less than seven working days. I wore this sari for Karva Chauth which was apt for the occasion. The contrast pink and mustard coloured sari looks very festive and is a far cry from subdued winter colours. As an Indian woman, I have the luxury of creating two wardrobes and I simply love it.
Here are some of my favorites saris form Rutbaa.com
I love this autumn feeling, the feeling of a crisp autumn morning. Golden leaves lay scattered on the ground, reminding you of the chillier winter ahead. It is a transitional season that calls for warmer clothes, hot chocolates, pumpkin spice lattes and the art of layering in order to stay cozy for the chillier days. Remember that this season is the most appropriate to layer your tops, for a comfy and extra warm result. Strappy lightweight dresses and sandals are left behind and jackets, cardigans and beautiful knitwear are coming out of the closets to take their place.
There is also a great transitional piece of clothing which is perfect for the days that aren’t too cold to wear a coat, but either too hot to wear only your top. It couldn’t be anything else than the all time classic bomber jacket. Bomber jacket, is actually the ultimate outerwear when Winter isn’t here yet. A versatile piece that looks super cool with everything, especially when it features easy autumn-y colours like burnt orange, black and khaki.
A bomber jacket like that, is my choice for today’s outfit. My favorite comfort piece that I combined with a very simple black top and black jeans. in order to bring all the attention to the jacket. Same coloured top and bottom, creates the illusion of a taller figure; a great tip to consider when picking out your clothes for a special day. To complete this look, I paired it with a chic black shoulder bag with gold metal studs all over it, and simple ankle boots for an effortless touch. Simple, comfortable yet stylish and cool looking.
Generally, khaki coloured clothes have something that makes them really versatile. This colour manages to go perfectly, with everything else you want to wear and instantly elevates your appearance. Whether you want a khaki jacket, khaki shoes or even khaki coloured pants, you can wear them easily with any other colour of your preference. Seems like it’s the best choice for Autumn.
In how many different ways you will style your khaki pieces? Any suggestions?
Until the next one, rock your bombers and stay warm girls!
Here are some of my top Khakhi items for this season.
