Christmas has arrived at The Red Notebook HQ in London. My last weekend was spent sorting out old Christmas decor and chucking away loads of rubbish. We also managed to make space for our lovely tree in the Living room. So finally, we welcomed the festive spirit in full glory.
Browsing local flea markets and high street shops fuels my decor inspiration. Every year it starts to feel a little festive for me once I start working on decor ideas. So this year we have a red and white festive theme. Irrespective of the space you have, you can go full out to adorn your abode with festive decor. Today I am sharing some very simple decor ideas that I worked on this year to welcome the spirit of Christmas.
Festive garland on the mantelpiece
Decorating your mantelpiece can immediately bring some festive warmth to your living space. Decorate your mantelpiece with festive garland and tea lights this Christmas. I bought this one from Christmas markets at Muswell Hill. Your local Christmas markets are full of festive inspirations and unique ideas – do pay them a visit.
Use a festive table cloth
Set the table for an unforgettable Christmas lunch/dinner using a festive table cloth. It’s also the time when your loved dining table will be used the most. So show some extra love by decorating it with festive table cloth and coasters.
Cake stand and Candles as a centerpiece
Cake stands are very versatile. You can use them to serve food or even as a table centrepiece. I have used my cake stand with a pillar candle and a small berry wreath to create a beautiful centrepiece.
The Red Notebook had a great 2016 and I would like to thank all my lovely readers and followers for following our fashion and style journey. I hope we managed to add some fashion fun in your everyday life. Wishing you all a very, very happy holiday season.
Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready for the freezing winters ahead! The mercury has been plummeting to sub zero temperatures lately. Dressing up to repel the chill and still look your best can be a struggle, when all you want to do is to stay in bed. Winters do call for festive outdoor Christmas fairs and markets. So get some cosy comfort to your winter wardrobe and get ready to brave the chill in style.
Todays’ post is all about how to dress warm and still look good. The outfit I am sporting today is super comfy and everyday winter style; something you can sport at Christmas, markets, walk in the woods, school pick up and more. The real winner of this look is the extremely warm quilted coat from Mango . This coat has become my trusted companion to brave the cold this season. To me it feels like a wearable duvet, perfect for my early, dark mornings. Wearing this coat on its own would be boring so I teamed it up with some complementary layers like a cosy grey knitwear from H&M and red plaid scarf from Gap.
Try moving away from all black/grey looks by adding striking accessories like a bright patterned scarf. This is a very laid back and relaxed look for your winter wardrobe. I added some more warmth by wearing these ever so comfortable knee high boots from M&S. These are one of the most comfortable knee high shoes I have very owned. I don’t even feel like talking them off – super snug and extremely comfortable to wear. The cutest bit of this look is my pom-pom beanie from Asos. Pom-pom beanies have a been a craze this season. They are a cute alternative to hats. Style Tip : Wear the hat slightly back to show of your fringe.
The trick to winter wear is in styling your main coat/jacket. Padded jackets have flooded the catwalk and the high street. It is a major trend this season. So wrap yourself in a gorgeous duvet like jacket and enjoy the festive outdoor atmosphere in style.

Display 1- DIY Christmas Candles
Just take white pillar candles, cinnamon sticks and rope string to create this candle display. Stick cinnamon sticks around the candle and decorate it with a rustic rope string. I used this beautiful sliver tray to place the candle display and scatter pines cones around.
Display 2- Cute Snow Globes
Beautiful display and very easy to create. Just get some glittery snow from ebay, empty glass jars from your kitchen and small decorative Christmas tree. Fix the tree to the centre of the lid, fill the jar with glitter snow and invert it. Make sure the glitter snow sticks to the jar – essential for achieving that snowy look . You can make it your centre table display, sideboard display or side table display like I have done here.
Display 3- Festive Christmas Crate
This is my favourite display. A very rustic and vintage display for your dinner table. I bought this vintage wooden crate from a local high street shop. Surprisingly I always manage to find some amazing artefacts from my local charity and other high street shops. They never disappoint me. Place glass jars with tea lights in the centre, fill the crate with green Christmas garlands, red berry decorations, cinnamon sticks and pine cones. For finishing touches, adorn the display with cute little red bows. Sit back, relax and let others appreciate you hard work.
Display 4- DIY Festive Garland
I get instant satisfaction from creating home made things. It feeds my creative energy and allows me to experiment with my styling ideas.
To create this beautiful Christmas garland, get hold of big decorative stars, festive figurine and rustic rope. Tie the decoration together on the rustic rope and decorate with red bows. You can hang this festive garland on the mantelpiece like I have done it here or hang it on sideboards or radiator covers.
Hope you got some decor ideas to add sparkle to your home this Christmas. Don’t forget to share your stories and ideas here with me.
It’s the season to be happy – Merry Christmas everyone! Yes party season is here and it gives you another excuse to indulge. I am sure you must have a busy calendar of office Christmas parties,Christmas lunches and drinks. Today on the blog I will talk about an evening party look featuring a LBD from Luxemme . A classic LBD (Little black dress) has always been a wardrobe favourite. It’s a fail-proof option: you can never go wrong with a classic LBD.
With the festive and party season rolling out, I wanted to feature a party list on the blog – your go to list to be party ready. For this blog post I want to feature Very.co.uk as a one-stop shop for this party season. Very’s party edit has everything you need to glam.
We all know that one of the best bits of any party is getting ready. Do keep one thing in mind: glamour. The secret is glitter, glam and shimmer. Going for glam doesn’t mean you have to play it safe. At this time of the year, it is totally socially acceptable to go all-out with a flamboyant outfit.
Here are a few of my favourite outfit options for this season.
1. Sparkle through the night – Opt for a sequin dress. If you are out for a special event or a night out with girls then do rock out wearing a sequin dress. Boasting glamorous appeal with sequin embellishment all over, these are some perfect party dresses from Very.
