I had a lovely time exploring new brands and here are a few of my favourites.

Rashma Sud Jewellery

Normally I do not mention a lot of Indian jewellery brands on my blog post just because there aren’t many good ones out there, but I have to mention  Rashma Sud Jewellery. I loved their stuff – very elegant and classy. I saw some interesting pieces like this colourful choker set sbove. If you are looking for good quality costume jewellery, then do pay them a visit. They also do semi-precious jewellery.

Suram Fashion By Gypsy Mahajan

What a beautiful collection they had. I fell in love with most of the pieces on display. Suram Fashions is an Ethnic Indian designer wear brand from New Delhi India. The lady behind the brand, Gypsy Mahajan, is very approachable and can customise outfits to suit your needs. The outfit can be easily shipped to London as well. I tried on a few thing from her collection and this green sharara set was a bright and refreshing colour to wear.

Suram Fashions has a dedicated team of designers working with them to create fresh unique outfits. If you are interested in any of their designs, then you can find them here at Facebook

Jyoti Chandhok

Jyoti had some stunning chikankari work on display. She had beautiful chikankari saris and full chikankari dupatta. Her new signature piece was this chanderi bright blue anarkali. She also had a range of cream, white and beige chikankari outfits.

Anita Dongre and Sonam Kapoor at DIVALICIOUS LONDON

I recently went to DIVAlicious London which hosted renowned Indian designer Anita Dongre in exclusive soiree with Sonam Kapoor. After amassing cult popularity the world over in destinations such as the UAE, India, Kenya, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Hong Kong and Indonesia, London played host to a unique, luxury boutique pop-up exhibition – ‘DIVAlicious 2017’ – on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th March 2017 at The May Fair Hotel, London.

International film and fashion icon Sonam Kapoor graced the event. On the by-lines of the exhibition, DIVAlicious London’s partner The Rack – by Kachins presented renowned celebrity fashion designer Anita Dongre. Hot off the ramp of India’s Lakme Fashion Week’s Grand Finale, Anita Dongre has been at the forefront of fashion for over 20 years, having created one of the most successful fashion houses in India. A metaphor for supreme craftsmanship, Anita Dongre’s designs showcase Indian aesthetics in a contemporary language.  Inspired by Rajasthan and India’s rich craft tradition, her handcrafted bridal gotapatti lehengas and handwoven heritage benarasi creations are coveted by brides across the world. Anita Dongre’s commitment to revive, sustain and empower the Indian crafts and textiles led her to launch Grassroot, a sustainable and eco-conscious luxury prêt label. DIVAlicious London marked Anita Dongre’s inaugural London showcase. The event showcased Anita Dongre’s acclaimed collection “Alchemy” (A Magical Transformation).

Private banker turned full time fashion entrepreneur Vanitaa Bhatia launched DIVAlicious in Dubai in 2011.  This is what she had to say about the event “We had a resounding weekend in London with a great turn out. With the reception we received, I can immediately claim that we will be back again next year and hope to make it an annual spring affair for the fashion-conscious market that is London.  Our next step is Nairobi, Kenya!”

I enjoyed exploring the new Anita Dongre’s Lakme Fashion Week’s Grand Finale collection. It was stunning and the designs were very fresh and feminine. The good thing is that these designs can be bought directly from http://shop.anitadongre.com/. Do have a look at the website and you will find all the latest pieces there.

I also came across a brand called Azuli by Nikki from Bombay. I really liked some of the pieces in her collection and tried this cream colour straight kurta. The one I am wearing in this picture has yellow embroidery but I ordered the same design with peach coloured embroidery.

I also spotted this stunning pearl work kurta by Mehreen Noorani. Mehreen Noorani  is a Dubai based brand and you can find them on facebook here.

Next stop was Payal Jain. Her collection included lots of creams and whites. I tried this white embroidered anarkali on me. I loved the all-over embroidery and the colour.

For a while I have been meaning to find a nice banarasi dupatta. I didn’t want anything in the red/pink colour palette. I wanted a unique colour to complement the festive season and my off-white palazzo suit. Diwali is a festive time and calls for lots of parties and events. I had to plan a few outfits for this season for various events and as usual my first point of contact for Indian clothes is Jyoti Chandhok. In her studio, there is a whole load of fabric and fashion treasure. Her designs are so classic that you can never go wrong with them. When I saw this burnt orange coloured banarasi dupatta, I simply fell in love with the colour. I loved the modern chevron design on the dupatta. The burnt orange colour was very unique and was totally apt for this Autumn.

I wore this dupatta on my off-white palazzo suit which I bought from India during my last trip. I bought this suit from Delhi at an exhibition. This suit is very versatile and can be easily teamed up with different coloured dupattas to create unique looks. If you want to keep the look a bit muted, then just wear a plain off-white dupatta. But if you want to go for a festive look, try a bright coloured dupatta.

I wore this dupatta for a day Diwali event and styled it with my favourite festive mojris from Jaipur. I love these juttis – they go with any ethnic look and are so comfortable. I wear them with most of my Indian outfits. See how I have styled them here and here. My earrings are from Jewellery by DivyaChugh

How did you dress up for Diwali? Would love to hear your Diwali fashion experiences. I will be sharing my actual Diwali outfit and decor ideas post soon. Till then, enjoy the Autumn sunshine.

Indian fashion blogger Diwali Look wedding Sari from India London

Hope you all had a brilliant start to the festive season and are now getting ready for Diwali. Ten years back when I first moved to London, shopping for Indian clothes was a nightmare for me. So my Indian wardrobe was built up by yearly India trips and recycling old wardrobe into new. Ten years on, my experience has changed a bit and writing a fashion blog has expanded my Indianwear options in London. Now with a click of a button I can get a custom made sari blouse delivered to London.

Let me introduce you to Rutbaa, an online destination for all Indianwear. They have a wide range of women Indian apparels and accessories, saris, suits, lehengas and more. I personally like their sari collection. The price range is also decent and comes with a fitted blouse tailoring service. One thing I always find difficult is getting a sari blouse tailored in London so when Rutbaa asked me to try on their tailoring service, I was quite keen to personally test it out.

Today on the blog I am featuring this lovely Pink leheriya sari with an embroidered border. The sari comes with an embroidered blouse. I love the detailing on the blouse and contrasting pink embroidered patterns. Thanks to Rutbaa for sending this lovely sari along with the fitted blouse to London in less than seven working days. I wore this sari for Karva Chauth which was apt for the occasion. The contrast pink and mustard coloured sari looks very festive and is a far cry from subdued winter colours. As an Indian woman, I have the luxury of creating two wardrobes and I simply love it.

Here are some of my favorites saris form Rutbaa.com

In the next week, I will be posting some more festive looks for this season so do stay tuned.

My Skirt Story – All the way from Pakistan

This is a very long overdue post. I have been itching to write it but could never prioritise it enough. Being a working mum and trying to juggle so many responsibilities makes me want to go in a dark zone and not be accountable for anything. But my blog inspires me to set my priorities and keeps pulling me back from that zone.

So, the story on the blog today is about my gorgeous embroidered skirt all the way from Pakistan. As you know, last year I was planning my outfits for my brother’s wedding and made one epic trip to India (that reminds me, I have to share my shopping stories). I had a set budget for my shopping haul and wanted to explore various designers. Also I wanted to get something which I would be able to wear in London as well. I did a lot of research on how I want my outfits to be, where I should get them from et al. This one outfit which I wore on two different occasions was not on my list. So the story goes like this – I was helping out designer Jyoti Chandhok at an event in London. I love Jyoti’s work and think she is one of the very few designers in UK who have something unique to offer. It so happened that at the same event I spotted Nabeel’s work. Unlike other vendors, Nabeel had few selected pieces on display. I was immediately drawn to his collection and specially to this lovely Afghan style embroidered cape. I loved the cape and Nabeel insisted that I should try it on. While I was trying on the cape, I had this thought of turning the cape into a skirt. I discussed the idea with Nabeel and worked on the outfit. Since Nabeel frequently travels to London he was able to deliver the outfit to me here. When I received the skirt, it was exactly what I wanted. Nabeel was able to translate my conversation on Whatsapp and bring my vision to life.

I wore this skirt on two different occasions and styled it a bit differently to create a day and evening look. For the day event I wore it with a crisp white collar shirt and a statement neck piece from Zara.

Holi Colourful Decor & Outfit Inspiration

Holi PartyDecorideas(1)

It’s been a while since I did a blog post. Quite a few things were happening at my end and my work took a back seat. As you know I went to India for my brother’s wedding and after coming back, I just didn’t want to get back to a routine. I went into procrastination overload, where I kept on delaying tasks and other things I needed to sort out. Now from last week there has been a major shift in my lifestyle and I am slowly getting back to normal – which means working on my blog and other creative projects.

On the blog today I want to share my Holi lifestyle post. Holi, the festival of colours, is one of my favourite festivals. The concept of Holi is now very much popular in Europe. During summer, Holi music festivals are a big rage. Festival goers wear white and immerse themselves in a riot of colours.

Holi is spring time in India and weather is very pleasant. In UK however we don’t have any such weather luxuries. I remember once it even snowed in London on Holi but we still went outside to play. Even though it was windy, dark and grey but our spirits were high.

Here are some pictures of the decor I did outside in my back garden. I did the decor a day before when It was sunny. Next day, due to high winds most of my streamers couldn’t bare the ballistic winds. I kept the theme yellow and pink, used streamers, paper pompoms to create a Holi setting.
