The Pre Winter Coat Edit

Shop the look

I was dreading the approaching winter months in London because that means my coats have to come out of the closet. Sometimes I avoid wearing coats – they are heavy and bulky and restrict motion. Given a choice, I would love to spend my winters in just cosy and snug oversized jumpers.

In my desperate attempt to find a lightweight everyday coat, I came across this Dogtooth Boyfriend Coat from F&F. I love this coat for two reasons: firstly it’s extremely light, which means I do not have to feel restricted in my outfit. Secondly, I love the straight cut and tailored finish. It looks smart and the check print is very much on trend. This coat might not qualify as your essential winter coat but it is a good pre-winter coat.

How I styled it.

To feel extra snug in this coat, wear it with a good cashmere sweater. The high street is flooded with some very reasonable cashmere options. I have compiled a list of some cashmere jumpers from our high street – have a look at some of the best finds here.

To add colour to my look, I wore these amazing berry coloured boots from F&F. These boots add a dash of panache through colour. Do not miss my cute bag from Accessorize, which totally compliments my boots.

I had a quick look at what high-street shops are doing in the coat department and here are some of my favourite finds. I hope we all manage to get our coats ready in time for winters. Browse my coat edit here.

Keep snug this winter and happy shopping !!

Looks & Locations Series

Some time back I did a special blog post called the ‘Looks and Location Series’, where I collaborated with Ameeta from Ayewanderful.com. The purpose of doing this series is to explore unique venues in London for quick after-work meetups and experiment with fashion. Today’s post is all about our next find and how we can wear our Autumn style.

For a quick coffee after work, we found this cute little in-store café – Saucer & Spritz in Oasis flagship store in Tottenham Court Road store. This is a relatively new store that launched last year. It’s a concept store created to engage shoppers and provide more than just clothes shopping. The store offers Saucer & Spritz cafe, Pin & Polish nail bar and personal styling services. If you want to mix some fashion, pampering and coffee then this place is for you. The interiors offer a relaxed setting and take inspiration from the tropical lifestyle. I also just found out that the Tottenham Court Road store is playing host to a series of special readings with three inspiring authors. You can book your tickets here.

What we wore

I chose this dark bottle green coloured floral dress. As we were meeting up after work on a Friday, I thought it would be an appropriate option. I am not a big fan of florals but I just couldn’t resist this beauty. I love the dark colour, truly appropriate for autumn, and if I wear it with a black biker jacket then it balances the overall look without making you look overly feminine. The dress is from Zara and I seriously debated in my head whether or not to buy it. In the end, I gave into the temptation and was glad I did so. This dress is a key autumn/winter item in my closet. It also follows the autumn floral trend which is a key look this season. You can dress it up or down, wear it from day to night and I could give ten more reasons to justify my purchase. I loved the dress, hence bought it. It wasn’t an impulsive purchase but a very considered decision. I paired the dress with a burgundy cross body bag from Mango and some minimal jewellery.

Ameeta opted for a very classic look. She wore this white shirt with pussy bow details and paired it with everyday denim. She did a great job in carrying her
outfit from work to after-work meetup. What added some drama to her look was the fuchsia pink sandals which helped in glamming up her look.

We had a lovely time chatting about blogging and other useful stuff that girls talk about. The venue was warm and welcoming and I would definitely recommend this place for an after-work coffee meetup. I hope you enjoyed our second post in the Looks and Location Series. If you want us to explore any new venues or
have suggestions, then do let us know.

The Chic List for Autumn/Winter 2017

As the new season approaches, the high street shops are stacked with the latest Autumn/Winter collection. Sad to know but summer is officially over, and it’s time to organise your wardrobe for the coming winter months. Autumn is one of my favourite seasons. It’s the festive season for us and unlike winter, you do not need all the heavy layers to keep you warm. Wearing light, manageable layers can create unique autumn looks. Most of the high street retailers have received their Autumn/Winter drops and here are a few key trends and wardrobe staples you need to know about this season.

Dare to wear Red

The red hot colour is definitely the flavour of the season. Wherever I go on the high street, the shops are screaming of this trend. From coats to knitwear, dresses and boots, the high street is adamant that customers shop red. The fiery shade dominated the autumn/winter 2017 shows, with brands such as Givenchy and Max Mara sending head-to-toe red looks down the runway. Here is a my curated list of most wanted red items of this season.

Best transitional item

Blazer is a universal clothing item and can instantly fix any drab t-shirt/jeans outfit. This year the runways were dominated by power suits and checks. The check blazer/suit trend is here to slay your Autumn/Winter 2017 wardrobe . Here are some of my high street favourites.

Flowy day to night dresses

Who says dresses are only for spring. There are some real jewels this season – beautiful dresses that can take you straight from a bright autumn day to chilly evenings. Wear it with boots during the day and furry sandals and long coats for an evening look.

Logo Inspired

Designer slogan trend has come back in a big way this year. Slogan t-shirts are on every fashion blogger feed and most of the popular styles are sold out . Translate this trend to knitwear and you are now ready to slay the new season. Here are a few of my logo inspired high street inspirations.

Hope you enjoyed reading the post. Do share your autumn wardrobe staples. I would love to know what you are wearing this season.

Jewellery love from Viva Luxe

Last year I introduced a new Indian fashion brand on the blog called Viva-Luxe. In the past one year, Viva Luxe has emerged as a strong online Asian fashion brand catering to an international audience. They offer a range of designer clothing from suits to sarees and lehengas.

As an Indian woman living away from India, I am always interested in exploring new shopping venues for Indian clothes. I shop most of my everyday wardrobe online as it’s so convenient for me. Slowly Asian brands and designers are venturing into the online world and making Asian fashion accessible to an international audience. Viva-Luxe is one such brand which has really established itself in the online world. Right from offering free delivery within UK to custom fitting, Viva Luxe is offering impeccable service to all fashion lovers.

The website stocks some distinctive designer labels and has a beautiful collection for the upcoming festive season. Here are few of my favourite pieces.

Other than Indian clothes, they have a very unique jewellery collection featuring statement necklaces and earrings . I am sporting some of their jewellery on the blog and this is how I have styled it.

I wore this stunning statement necklace with a double breasted blazer style dress from Asos. Since this necklace was a bit delicate and feminine, I chose to pair it with a masculine outfit. This look could be apt for the upcoming party season. The necklace will look stunning with any black dress and add that glam factor.

Also have a look at another jewellery beauty. These emerald green earrings above are perfect to glam up any everyday look. I wore them with an off-shoulder white top. Green coloured accessories pair nicely with white clothing and add a bit more to your plain white top.

I hope you enjoyed the above featured jewellery. If you are looking for some Indian festive fashion gift ideas, then do stalk jewellery Viva Luxe here.

Dress Love

If you follow me on insta stories, you would know that there is a Zara store next to my office. This means, my lunchtime routine involves checking out new arrivals at Zara. I would like to believe that some of my favourite wardrobe finds are from Zara and I shop there a lot. Over the past few years, I think I have become an avid Zara customer.

I do understand that Zara is fast fashion and is created to tempt us into buying more. But as a fashion lover, I tend to give into fast fashion buys sometimes. I invest in statement fast fashion pieces that I would wear again. One such choice I recently made is this beautiful silk embroidered dress from Zara. At the moment Zara is really championing embroidery trend on the high street. They have some really nice embroidered dresses for your holiday wardrobe.

I love the design and embroidery on this dress. The good thing is that you can dress it up or down depending on your mood. I would love to wear this dress with sneakers to create a very relaxed look. I wore the dress with my tan heels and a tan cross body bag from Next. I recently wore this dress on a bright sunny day and the look was highly appreciated. However, I must add that I felt hot in the dress and wished it had half sleeves. I would say it is not a good option to wear this dress on a hot summer day but perfect for a summer evening out.

Also, most of the summer sale offers are now online. I have curated a list of my top picks here. I hope you can get hold of your size. Good Luck!

My favourite summer top

As a Londoner, I eagerly wait for the summer months when I can get rid of my heavy coats and jackets. Who doesn’t love the Great British Summer!  It is the best time to be in London and explore the city to its fullest. London has so much to offer and even after living here for more than 10 years, I haven’t been able to explore it fully.

Summer calls for your new summer wardrobe, so today on the blog I am sharing my favourite summer tops of all times. This blue embroidered top is from Next and I am planning to spend my entire summer in it. I have styled this top in many different ways and I can’t get enough of it. I wear this top to work, I wear to school drop offs, I will wear it on my holiday…. I wear it everywhere. I have never been so excited about any other top than this one.  I love the material – 100% cotton, the embroidery on the sleeves, the tassels string at the neck… What’s not to love about this top? It also comes in red colour. You can shop the top here.

I styled the top with my ripped Zara jeans, black jollychic sandals and my favourite Charles Keith bag. You can wear this top with denim shorts or even dungarees for a more relaxed look.

I recently did a post on embroidered summer tops and this one was up on my list. If you didn’t get a chance to catch that post then read it here. Here are some more summer top ideas for you all.

Looks and Location Blog Series

Parisian tea room laduree fashion Blog Indian girl UK

Today’s post is a special one as I have teamed up with a fellow like-minded blogger, Ameeta, from Ayewanderful.com. Ameeta and I met at a blogging event where we shared our love for blogging. Like me, Ameeta also holds a full time job in the IT industry but does blogging to fulfill her creative aspirations. She writes a travel and lifestyle blog where she shares her passion for travel and discovering new places. While her blog focuses on travel and lifestyle and mine is about fashion/style, we both thought that by collaborating on a ‘Look and Location’ #looksandlocations series we will bring something unique to our readers. So finally we are ready with our very first “Looks and Location’ post.

Our first find is this cute little Parisian tea room near Bank Station called Laduree. Laduree is an ideal place to meet up for a quick coffee catch up after work. Best known for its macarons, Laduree is a French pastry/tea room place. There are a few branches dotted around London and I have heard that the Harrods branch is a must visit. The Bank branch is open till 8 pm, making it a perfect place for a quick catch up after work. Coffee shops do tend to close a bit early as most people prefer to go out for drinks after work. But if you are someone like me who prefers a coffee over drinks, then Laduree is a good option.

Laduree offers a range of macaron flavours, from coffee to raspberry to rose and more. I absolutely loved their macarons. I am not much of a macaron fan as I find them very sweet but these ones just melted in my mouth and weren’t too sweet.

Now let’s focus on our looks. I wore this printed summer dress from H&M. The dress is sleeveless so to make it more work appropriate, I teamed it up with a white crop top. I work in digital design, a creative industry. We have a casual dress code at work which gives me the flexibility to experiment with my looks. But casual dress code still needs to be work appropriate. This print dress seemed to be a decent choice to wear at work as well as for a quick coffee meetup. My accessories were very minimal – just my watch and ring. Ameeta also kept her look fairly relaxed. She wore a cute flower print skirt and teamed it up with a black top. She chose to accessorise it with a gold necklace from New Look. Both our looks had one common theme which was flower prints, making it appropriate for spring/summer.

So today on the blog I will be sharing some stylish tops from high street shops to help you curate your summer wardrobe. Embroidered tops create a very relaxed boho look. It is also an essential item for your holiday suitcase.

As you can make out from my blog, I am a sucker for good high street finds.
