Today’s look is inspired by my mum’s signature style which is very feminine and colourful. I have learnt a word or two about styling and dressing up from my mum. She is responsible for sowing the seeds of fashion in me at a young age. My mum loves floral prints, bright colours and I have tried to incorporate these elements in my outfit. This blog post is for ‘Inspired by Mum’ Mother’s Day Blogger Challenge from House of Fraser and it is dedicated to my mum for being my first fashion teacher.
Inspired by Mum outfit
I was looking around for spring wardrobe ideas for this year and stumbled upon this lovely pleated flared skirt from Zara. Checkout their latest spring edit – there are some lovely goodies for everyone. I laid my hands on this asymmetrical pleated skirt and I am in love with it – it is very feminine and the material is super light. I teamed up this skirt with some existing items from my wardrobe – always ‘Recycle & Reuse’ where possible. I chose my Monsoon white top which I bought ages ago. Wore the outfit with barely there black sandals which are ideal for spring/summer. They show off your spring-manicured legs and don’t clash with the clothing. These sandals were part of my trousseau and I bought them from Khan Market Delhi. You can pair up this outfit with a cropped jacket to beat the chill in the air. I was lucky to have nice sunny weather on the day of the shoot so didn’t need a jacket.
One Dress Two Looks
Here is an idea of how you can wear the same skirt and create two different looks just by updating basic accessories like a bag. For the first look I carried a more formal bag, ideal for formal meetings and day lunches. To create an evening or a bit relaxed look, go for an oversized clutch similar to my second look.
Complete the look
My mum would always wear her gold watch along with her gold bangles and rings. These days we use phones to keep a track on time but once in a while its nice to wear a watch. I am looking to buy a modern gold watch and something like this from House of Fraser definitely fits the bill and it completes my mum inspired look.
